The Story of Our Launch

First off, we would like to personally thank each and everyone of you. For SWAE, and for all of us over here, we would like to extend our appreciation towards you. You make our dreams come true by spreading our stories and our purpose. And if you are up for the adventure, we would love for you to join us on the open road down the coast.

The Journey

On June 17th in the summer of 2009 we embarked on a 2,500 mile bike trip from British Colombia to Baja. Our mission was simple: identify, partner with, and have fun with North America’s greatest local outfitters and guides. Our goal grand: become the online home for adventure sports. Our purpose is what inspired us: redefine the meaning of success in the for-profit world by dedicating SWAE to the conservation of the environment and the livelihood of those men and women who take us their. Our only rule on the trip was simple: no cars, just bikes. You wouldn’t not find us behind the wheel of anything with an engine, but you could always find us riding on a pair of wheels. Along the way we met with friends, family, strangers, fellow adventurists, farmers, fishermen, cyclists, and in short; people. Fundamentally we held a belief and hold it to this very day that business isn’t business; business is people. In turn we have dedicated our story to adventure, conservation, and people.

It was a Movement:

There are two movements we were seeking to promote.  The first one was simple.  We hoped to turn our bike trip into a Forest Gump trip.  One where the people we met along the way join up with us for a ride.  Whether they want to ride with us for a half day, a week, or a thousand miles we loved to extend an invitation their way.  And we did and they did.  Different people from all different walks of life joined us on our journey, some for thousands of miles, others for hundreds and many for dozens.  It was beautiful.  The second movement we saught to promote is one we still strive for today and is why we have dedicated the past 5 years to creating SWAE.  We are launched a company that exists to redefine what it means to be a successful in the for-profit world. Today, many corporations are run by the bottom line and their actions are based on short term profits and shareholder’s demands. But this paradigm forgets about the communities they work within, about sustainable practices, and about preserving the natural beauty around us. We are here to redefine the meaning of success in the for-profit world and this was at the heart of our bike trip.  Our hope was and is to inspire a new way to launch a company, run a company, and utilize the influence of a company. By dedicating our profits to development and eco-tourism and by running a company whose product and services lead to the preservation of great places, people, and businesses, our goal is to serve as an example that a sustainable business with an emphasis on community care and environmental commitment will be highly successful.
