My past pedaling pays off

My past pedaling pays off

I’ve been on the West Coast for six days now with the rest of the SWAE team and I have to say, I feel right back at home. Only a year ago, I was on a similar trip riding to every adventure town in Colorado, meeting with the best outfitters, guide services, and schools in the state.  It was not only a rewarding experience personally, but it also was a lesson on how the industry of adventure sports functioned.

After meeting outfitters face-to-face, I realized how large an impact we could make by biking town-to-town and actually shaking the hand of each outfitter. It shows outfitters we are committed and willing to put in the time to create a relationship. A hand shake reaches further than a phone call or an email and gives each person a face to connect with. It also gives us the ability to see how outfitters function and what makes them unique.

After a month and a half of immersing ourselves into the welcoming and open arms of Colorado last year, I can already tell it will not be any different on the coast.

San Francisco has been our base camp for nearly a week now, and I’ve transitioned back into the swing of everything. Initially, felt I was up against a very steep learning curve after getting caught up to speed with the new changes SWAE had made to its systems.

After my first day, I realized that this was not the case at all; swaesports.com had not been changed, but extremely improved. The website is easier to navigate and users are able to find exactly what they are looking for.  Aside from the site being perfected, I am even more confident in the already-evident success of SWAE  Sports, knowing that we have such a solid team.  Dan, Jesse, Elliott, and Will have done an incredible job so far and I hope that I can bring some energy to this group that has already traveled over 1500 miles.

We have about two more days in the city and then we will be heading south down Highway 1. Next stop, Santa Cruz.  We will see if I can keep up with these weathered riders.
