“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. This I did.” -T. E. Lawrence, Seven Pillars of Wisdom
What a magnificent realization: we are dreaming with our eyes open. When I’m cycling across high desserts and in between glaciated volcanoes I feel as if I’m dreaming. When every single stranger we meet wants to talk with us, put us up in their houses, and give us their best wishes, I feel as if I am dreaming. Since we have already surpassed the original goal of partners signed on this trip and we are only three weeks into the ride, I feel as if I’m dreaming.
When we sit back at the end of an evening and share a local pint over stories of hilarity and success from the day passed, I feel as if I’m dreaming. When I’m able to write to the world with a simple declaration: this company will redefine the adventure industry, I feel as if I am dreaming. The most beautiful part is that I, and the rest of this team, are not dreaming. We are, in short, dreaming with our eyes open.
I remember about two months ago, a good friend of mine asked me what I dream about during the few hours-a-night I was sleeping at the time. My answer then was simple, I dreamt about business. How awful does that sound? To some extent, I think an obsession over a project, organization, or company is needed by any entrepreneur. But on the other hand, my own obsession occasionally caught me off guard.
The beautiful bit of it now, is that my dreams are becoming realized while my own eyes are wide open. And when I sleep; I don’t just dream about business. Although, if I were to be completely honest, last night, it was nearly all I dreamt about =).

Daniel – my first thought after I read your blog today was that you are a very lucky person – living your dream…but it isn't luck – it is having a vision and making it a reality…it is hard work, a firm belief in what you are doing, good people to do it with, and alot of guts to go forward with it all. I continue to be very proud of you. Love mom
Thanks mom. Haha, i just realized that about half of the comments on our blog our from our moms. But there is no one else we appreciate the comments more from in the world
Great!!! I hope you get to fulfill many more dreams… and don't forget to keep your eyes open
All the best!
Love
Lucille
that's funny! well you know….moms and sons…we have faith and we love you! all the more reason to get this site out to more people!! mom
It's so easy to get stuck in a routine, and only dream about going after what you want. It's great to see that you are getting up and doing it ….so great to hear of the adventures, and see more people following their dream…with eyes wide open.

William: Thanks for the email regarding SWAE. Good luck with your trip down south. Hope you enjoyed your time in Bend.
Daniel: Listen to your mother. Luck gets you only so far. It's about having a vision, and then working harder than everyone else.
Comment: When you post a picture, let readers know where it's taken from. This one looks like the Deschutes. Or John Day?
Debbie. The picture is taken along the Deschutes, just outside of Maupin. Thanks so much for the comment.
Thanks Debbie. Bend has been amazing. It reminds me of being back home in Boulder, CO. What an incredible outdoor oriented community and I must say that Townshend's Tea House is rapidly shooting to the top of my favorite wifi hotspots. Hope all is well and keep posted; great things are on the horizon.
I do love Bend. I'm raising my two sons here, and they remind me a little of you and Daniel … young and adventurous. Both of them raced out of the house today to go camping on the Umpqua River for some steelhead fishing. I highly recommend a trip over to Crater Lake if you guys have the time. As fast as you guys are peddling, it's a pretty easy trip off of Highway 97. The Umpqua River is just an hour or so away, home to fishing spots once visited by Zane Gray and Ernest Hemingway.
