My trailer is heavy.

My trailer is heavy.

The fact that we are already a week into the trip is crazy. We have been working like mad, and our 12-hour work days seem to just fly by- and that’s probably because it doesn’t feel like “work”. As we rode into Bellingham the other day, I shouted to Daniel that I can’t believe that this is my job. I’m getting paid to ride my bike and meet with incredible people who share my passion for a life that involves adventure. This trip reminds me of my backapcking travels- go somewhere, stay a couple of days, then move on to another rad place. Feels like freedom, and I’m working…Awesome.

Yesterday was incredible because I finally saw first-hand that what we offer at SWAE Sports is in fact something that adventure sports outfitters need, and want. As it says in the “meet the crew” section of this blog, I worked for this company for nothing but high fives for 4 months before this trip started. The reason I did it was simple, because I believe in what we are doing, I think it’s rad as hell, and I know that SWAE will be successful. To actually hear, though, an outfitter say “yeah, sounds great, sign me up” was simply fantastic. After the meeting, I was riding super fast with a huge grin on my face, thinking- oh yeah, it works!!!

I’ve always loved getting into a rythm on my road bike, because even when it hurts, the sustained exercise just makes me feel amazing.  Endorphins pump through my body and sometimes I’ll reach these states of pure euphoria. This happens especially when I have a beautiful view all around me, and there is no shortage of beauty in the Pacific Northwest. I am really stoked for the ride to Anacortes that is is store for us later today, because we are riding along the coast for almost the entire 35 miles. It’s raining now, and it might be when we hit the road, but that’s cool, we are all in the mood for a little adventure…

Oh and I suppose I should comment on the photo that posts with this update- Mind wandering, I really half-assedly tried to unclip from my pedal and failed as we came to a stop… Went down, and Daniel was quick on the camera as we both laughed about it… Hopefully that’s the most serious crash I take…
